Hi readers!
Have you heard how they now call it “No School November?” Between Election Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving, the kids are barely in the classroom for a full week. I only have one kiddo left in school, and trust me she’s not complaining 🙄
Speaking of Thanksgiving, next week I’ll be coming at you with ⚡early access⚡ to a pretty sweet Black Friday offer.
Stay tuned!
Onto some books that I’m digging lately…
Fellowship Point/Alice Elliott Dark
I picked up this novel because I followed my rule of three. If three well-read people I know recommend a book, there must be something there. And, there is! I devoured this rich, layered story of a lifelong friendship between two very different women. There should be more books about women in their 80’s, as they have a lot of wisdom to throw down! This book is for you if you love summers in Maine, have the pros/cons of aging on your mind (anyone else turning 50 this year?), and enjoy tales of family/social drama.
I Miss You. I Hate This/Sara Saedi
If you have a teen/tween girl in your life, go get her this book for Christmas/Hanukkah/just because. It’s a totally relatable and utterly readable story of two best friends navigating the complexities of friendship while their world is turned upside down by a global pandemic And, it may be a YA novel, but if you ever were a teen girl, you would enjoy reading it, too.
None of This Would Have Happened If Prince Were Alive/Carolyn Prusa
As a Prince fan, this book had me at the title. ☔️
I heard about this debut novel from Jennifer Caloyeras on the Books Are My People podcast (which I will be appearing on in January! Does one appear on a podcast? Hmmm…I digress…)
The book tells the story of a woman whose life has been upended by the discovery of her husband’s affair and an approaching Category Four hurricane. It’s chock full of references to The Purple One and has been called “smart and funny,” and “perfect for fans of Maria Semple and Jennifer Weiner.”
Happy reading!
